Bad Reviews? Yep, you’re going to get them!

One of the hardest things about being a writer is reading bad reviews¬†about your books. I suggest you don’t do it. But, you should expect them. Reviewers are people and we all have our opinions.

Below are some one star reviews from 3 of the most well-known, best-selling authors in the business. If they get them, how can you expect not to get them?

How about these?

Or maybe even these…

bad reviews 2

And even more bad reviews…

See? Even the big names get these horrendous things. And in case you skipped the small text at the bottom of each image, here are the authors associated with these gems…

  1. Stephen King
  2. Nora Roberts
  3. James Patterson

Were you expecting that? Maybe. Maybe not.

It can be disheartening to read the unpleasant reviews on the work you’ve slaved over. I suggested above that you don’t do it. But, if you absolutely can’t help yourself, I recommend you that you read your good reviews afterwards. Some people are going to LOVE your work!¬†Some people are going to hate it. Others will be indifferent.

Good reviews or bad, the reviewer took time out of their day to say something. So, at least there’s that, right?

If you happen to get a lot of negative reviews that are bad, or just mean…here’s a video by Derek Murphy that covers this topic.
